#1. Mauritius is hosting the 12th edition of the CJSOI from 4 to 11 December 2022.
#2. The mascot of this edition is Joy, manipulated by the young and talented ventriloquist, Sarah Thevenau. She is also the winner of the “Zeness montre to talent”.
#3. The official song of the games is titled “C’est la fête” and it was produced by the Mauritian artist, Gérard Louis, and performed by a local talented group, Teen E dièse.
#4. Did you know that CJSOI stands for Commission de la Jeunesse et des Sports de l’Océan Indien ?
#5. Unveiled at Cote d’Or National Sports Complex, the logo of the 12th edition of the CJSOI was designed by Dhylan Lukea, inspired by the prevailing cyclones in the Indian Ocean and shells.
#6. Only 7 countries participate in the CJSOI Games, and they are Djibouti, Comores, Mayotte, Madagascar, Seychelles, Reunion, and Mauritius.
#7. Did you know that participants will compete in 11 disciplines? These disciplines are athletics, futsal, swimming, pétanque, boxing, table tennis, weightlifting, tennis, sailing, Esports and beach handball.
#8. The prime objective of the games is to promote friendship between the youth of the countries and to foster regional cooperation and a sporting culture.
#9. Did you know that last edition of the games was held in Djibouti in 2018?
#10. Mauritius clinched the top spot and won the games with 10 gold medals in the 2018 edition.
#11. This is the third time that Mauritius is hosting the CJSOI games.
#12. Do you know who is the president of the CJSOI? It is Marie-Céline Zialor who is also the Minister of Youth, Sports, and Family of Seychelles.
#13. The CJSOI games were first introduced in year 1994 and it is then organised every 2 years to keep the youth spirit alive. However, the CJSOI commission was created in 1988.
#14. The games are made-to-measure for youngsters, aged between 14 and 17 years old only.
#15. Cote d’Or will be the centre ground to host the competitions for athletics, swimming, petanque, futsal and Esports.
#16. Mauritius is expecting approx. 1,200 participants to compete for the 11 sporting disciplines.
#17. Mauritius first hosted the CJSOI games in 1995 and for a second time in 2006.
