LFCIA graduate, Steeler, heads to SC Bastia for trial

Liverpool Academy Mauritius graduate player, Steeler Hortance, has been invited to France for a trial with SC Bastia. The talented 18 years old defender secures a golden opportunity to train with the senior squad of the renowned French Team in the second division

Côte d’Or National Sports Complex is thrilled to announce that Steeler Hortance, one of the most outstanding and gifted graduated players of the Liverpool Football Club International Academy Mauritius, will be heading to France for a four-day trial at the 118 years old celebrated Sporting Club Bastiais in Bastia on the island of Corsica. The professional French Club has a solid reputation of developing young African footballers into world class stars.

Boarding his flight from Mauritius on Sunday 14 May 2023, Steeler will spend four days, 16 to 19 May 2023, in full time training displaying his football abilities, natural fitness, range of passing and game intelligence, to impress the coaching staff of SC Bastia.

This opportunity has been created in partnership with David Martinache, football agent from Nash Football established in Mauritius. The 4-day trial will see the young Mauritian defender participate with the first team squad which competes in Ligue 2. The ultimate objective of this football trial is to lock-in a professional contract and turn into a pro player.

Steeler is a classy defender and has always been a standout student during his 4 years at the LFCIA academy since he joined in 2019. He has all the ability and talent to catch the eyes of the Bastiais coaching staff and to succeed as a pro player.
